Age-Defying Makeover Tips
1. Avoid ash tones and opt for warmer colors. Ash pulls color from the skin, while warm bases restore radiance.
2. Keep cuts light and textured. Concentrate on removing weight from the ends. Always strive to create a shape that best enhances your client’s facial features.
3. Keep hair shiny by removing build-up, offering keratin treatments and educating your clients about the latest technological advances to keep hair healthy. “I’ve seen women who have gotten beautiful facelifts,” she says, “but their dull hair immediately gives away their age.” 
4. If the client has long hair, add shorter layers around her face.
5. Flat hair can be very aging, so lift layers from the crown to add volume.

Back on Track

Oh Boy, it has been a while since i've been here.  I'm avoiding my taxes and thinking updating this blog is far more important right now! You should see this mess of paperwork I'm sitting in the middle of.  Procrastination is something I do very well.  I've always done better under pressure (who am I kidding).  This truth is, the one and only resolution I made this year is to get better organized.  I want a very zen-together feeling instead of the hurry-up and half ass it feeling. I'm a work in progress.  Here's a list of things I need to update on this blog:

Ok, because it's me, I of course won't get to it all tonight.

This is what I saw alot of in the Summer of 2010:

My boys, my life.  I work three nights a week, so these two are tight.  I have an amazing husband who is a great mister mom as well.  When you're a stylist you have to work when others don't.  After 20 years I did stop working on Saturdays, but added an extra night to make up for it.  I've been loving my weekends off with my family.  It's worth the sacrifice of not being able to kiss my boy goodnight sometimes.

God, look at that face!  It's amazing how much I love this little man.  He had a great summer, he chose to attend the local rec camp which is held at the High School.  He saw all his friends, took a ton of field trips and flirted with the pretty rec councilors. 

I wish I could be a fly on the wall when he's chucking and jiving with his buds.  Actually, I take that back, ignorance is bliss:)










Family Torrential Rainstorm Camping"FTRC"- not for the weak! The only time it rained this summer and we decided to camp for three days.  We went with two other families and let's just say, there were lots of late night cocktails.  When my husband and I were dating we would keep a tent in our car for impromptu camping trips.  We got married and I don't have to prove how adventurous I am, I enjoy everyday luxuries, like say-dry clothes? 

My goal next summer?  Definetely more enjoyable camping trips, what's yours?

Mothers Day Goodness

Here's what I did for Momma's Day! 5k for breast cancer research! Hope everyone had a fabulous day spending time with their loved ones. I'm on the left, Kat in middle and Jen on right.

Simple straight

My son was invited to a birthday party last night, so my husband and I snuck off to the Corner Room for a dinner date. I'm posting this picture of my hair because he said it looked really good. Got to love those compliments!



So that morning I blew it dry with a round brush and some Morrocan Oil with intentions of flat ironing at work (perk of working in a salon). Well, my day turned out busier than I thought and I didn't get to iron my hair until 3:00, go figure it turned out great.

I use Morrocan Oil everyday whether Im wearing it curly or straight. It helps dry your hair 40% faster and nourishes it with argan oil. It's a little pricey but well worth it.

Also, if you're ever looking for a great Italian restaurant in Portland, Maine go to the Corner Room. Great atmosphere, yummy food and reasonable prices. We both had a glass of wine, oxtail crepes to start. I ordered the Cioppino and my husband had the duck ravioli all for $60. Next time I will post pics of the pretty foods I am referring to, but until the here's a picture of my fabulous husband;)
